I drank for happiness and became unhappy. I drank for joy and became miserable. I drank for sociability and became argumentative. I drank for sophistication and became obnoxious. I drank for friendship and made enemies. I drank for sleep and...woke up tired. I drank for strength and felt weak. I drank for relaxation and got the shakes. I drank for courage and became afraid. I drank for confidence and became doubtful. I drank to make conversation easier and slurred my speech "I drank to feel heavenly and ended up feeling like hell"

Kandace - it is so good to hear from you. I thought you probably got swallowed up by work right away.
It has been a challenge to adjust to life after the Ranch and without you all. What a blessing to have had the experience with you at the Ranch. I am connecting with Twig and Jim and got to meet Pat very briefly the other night. It is great to have some fellow Ranchers to chat and share with.
I hope you are settling back in nicely with the kids and Chad. Does he go to meetings with you? I am trying to find a joint AA/Alanon meeting that Jos and I can attend together. I really want to experience what the mates of the afflicted folks go through.
I heard that Lisa had injured her back and wondered if you knew how she is doing first hand? I have phoned in a few times to check but they are not too forth coming with info.
So glad you are going to meetings, Kandace. Usually, Monday nights we get together for dinner before the meeting. A bunch of us, fellowshippers, get together. Last night, i was getting phone calls about dinner. Said i was unable to make it, but they should have one regardless. Guess it never happened. Now, next Monday, Gary and i are starting up "Back to Basics". We will take people thru the 12 steps like they did it back then. We can do this is 4 weeks at 1 hour sessions. None of this "take you time" crap!! I see so many struggle...not because they are newcomers. but because of us, myself included, that do not take the time to take them thru the steps!! We in Cranbrook, take quantity of sobriety over quality of sobriety! I see so many people with long term sobriety NOT TAKING ON Sponsorship. It is real sad to see. And they wonder why so many are relapsing. This "back to Basics" is for us. It's a real gift for Gary to bring this to us about 2 years ago. I now am invloved in this service too. It works! Hope to see u and Debbie there next week! See ya soon, Kandace!!

When we live in the past, we live in regret. When we live in the future, we live in fear. When we stay in the NOW, every-thing's always okay.
